Denture Candidates
In general, most adults with tooth loss can qualify for dentures. These prosthetic teeth don’t tend to have many requirements for their use. Still, you should consult Dr. Bal to determine where you stand on candidacy. He’ll closely assess your mouth to see whether dentures would benefit you and your smile. From there, he can give you his thoughts and make informed suggestions on how to proceed. Once you’ve replied with your feedback, Dr. Bal will then draft a custom treatment plan.
The Types of Dentures
If we believe you qualify for dentures, our team will recommend that you get one of three possible kinds. These types are:
- Partial Dentures – A partial denture only replaces a few of your teeth. In line with that fact, it secures itself with metal clasps that attach to regular teeth. This design blends the real and artificial enough that no one will know you have a denture.
- Full Dentures – Unlike a partial denture, a full one replaces all the teeth along an arch. It thus relies on natural suction to stay in place, not metal clasps. Otherwise, it uses the same style of acrylic base and artificial teeth.
- Implant Dentures – Implant dentures secure themselves with dental implants. In other words, four to six titanium posts are surgically placed and create a foundation for the other artificial teeth. The final denture will thus remain very stable and not slip or fall from your mouth.
Dental Implant-Supported Partial & Full Dentures
If you want a more permanent option, consider partial or full implant dentures. Both kinds rely on implant posts that look and act like the roots of teeth. For that reason, they stimulate the jawbone to create a firm, sold, and lasting base for your custom restorations.
True enough, you’d require minor oral surgery to have the initial implants placed. Still, the final denture would not only improve your looks but also restore your bite force. You could expect treatment to let you eat your favorite foods and help you look young.
You also shouldn’t underestimate the positive impact new teeth can have on well-being. Whether its your mental, emotional, or physical health, implant dentures of any sort would make life seem brighter.
